Mary Nims Walsh, BFA
"Fine Art" Muralist
Holland, PA
…“I enjoy sharing my artistic versatility and ability to conceptually visualize with my clients. It gives me great joy to help individuals and businesses alike give their personal or professional spaces a unique and beautiful touch, whether it is a portrait, mural work or other artistic expression. ”
Mary Walsh was born in New York State, and moved to Moorestown, NJ where she spent the remainder of her childhood until 1976. Animals and the natural world were predominant subjects of Ms. Walsh’s early art – she started drawing and creating visual stories at age four. There was never any doubt that art and creativity would play a major role in her life. While attending Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey), where she earned her BFA in 1980, she continued to explore and expand on these themes, incorporating natural imagery into her later works. After graduation, Mary moved to Brigantine, NJ and while in this seaside region, she received her first mural commission, a roller-coaster ride backdrop in Atlantic City. In the 1980s, Mary pursued her art, and continued receiving commissions while working in retail management. With the birth of her second child almost fifteen years ago, Ms. Walsh herself had a rebirth of sorts, with a renewed dedication to pursuing art full time, leading to an expanded array of work in various public/community and private venues. A steady stream of interesting projects and art- related challenges continues to shape Ms. Walsh’s artistic and dramatically creative vision. From a mural depicting Easter Island aside an indoor swimming pool, a portrait on a tavern wall painted while the patrons encouraged her, to work in a Blue Ribbon school in Philadelphia with the enthusiastic Commercial Commissions: students providing ideas and feedback, Mary pursues her craft with great passion. Along with trompe-l’oeil and commissioned mural work, fine art, and portraits, Mary expresses her intuitive nature by deriving inspiration from the world around her and painting on furniture, glassware, terracotta and a variety of found objects. Always encouraging creativity through her works and her teaching, Mary resides in Bucks County with her children John and Madeline, and her family’s beloved dog Jack.
